Hospital in York Region honoured with national award recognizing best-in-class organizations

Southlake Health in Newmarket has received national recognition for excellence showcasing how a workplace culture can drive performance.

The hospital located on Davis Drive has been awarded one of Canada’s Most Admired Corporate Cultures.

According to the awards’ website, the program “recognizes best-in-class Canadian organizations for having cultures that enhance performance and sustain a competitive advantage.”

Presented by Waterstone Human Capital, a retained executive search and corporate culture advisory firm, the top honour highlights the hospital’s commitment to its people and dedication to building a thriving, inclusive, and high-performing workplace.

Southlake says that for its strategy for the decade ahead, it’s focusing on people who will make progress and transform the hospital into a Distributed Health Network. That means offering care in various ways in addition to hospital settings, like outpatient facilities, through community-based programs, virtually, or at home.

Fifty-eight organizations have been recognized, most being workplaces in larger cities like Toronto, Vancouver, and Calgary.

The awards will be presented at a ceremony in March.

The area Southlake serves is growing at twice the rate of the province.
