Crash north of Orillia shuts down Highway 11 for second time

Just as the earlier Highway 11 multi-vehicle pileup cleared, the major highway shut down again due to a tractor trailer collision.

It’s the second Highway 11 closure of the day.

Police closed Highway 11 from County Road 169 to Sparrow Lake Road in Washago at 5 p.m. on Tuesday due to a crash involving a transport truck and multiple vehicles.

Police say the transport truck was heading northbound and went over the median and hit vehicles going southbound.

Orillia OPP is alerting drivers to expect slowdowns in the area and to follow directions from officers at the scene.

The highway was first shut down at County Road 169 at around 4:30 p.m.

Police say injuries are being assessed.
