Traffic near Alton could be heavier than usual over the next several days as the RBC Canadian Open welcomes thousands of golf fans to TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley. The tournament runs from now until Sunday, and police are reminding both visitors and residents to plan extra travel time as traffic volumes are expected to spike throughout the weekend. Closures and speed limit reductions Beech Grove Sideroad is closed between Main Street and Porterfield Road until next Wednesday. Police say the road is restricted to tournament vehicles and shuttle buses only and people will not be permitted to access the event from that area. Anyone using Uber or Lyft must use the designated pick-up and drop-off location at the South Admissions entrance on 19101 Main Street. Drivers will also notice a temporary speed limit reduction on Main Street between Beech Grove Sideroad and Charleston Sideroad. The speed limit has been dropped from 80 kilometres an hour to 50 km/h for the entire tournament. Police encourage everyone to plan ahead by reviewing parking information before arriving. Visitors are also being asked to use the official event app for directions. Caledon is hosting Canada’s national men’s golf championship and the country’s only stop on the PGA Tour. Officials say the tournament is expected to draw top golfers and large crowds from across the country.
