Provincial police charged four individuals accused of driving onto private farm land in Dufferin County to snap pictures of large wind turbines. According to OPP, the incident happened over the Easter long weekend on a property in Melancthon. The four people from Barrie were charged with trespassing. “Trespassing on private property whether for photography, off-roading, or other purposes is against the law. In this case, the trespass occurred on land where windmills are situated,” police stated in a release. Police used the incident to remind the public that fields and private lands are not required to have fencing or signage to deter people. “Unauthorized access is still considered trespassing, and criminal charges such as mischief may apply if damage occurs,” OPP added. Provincial police said the farmer was left to cleanup after the small car vacated the property.
