Firefighters battle structure fire in Bala

Firefighters battle a blaze on Moon River Road in Bala on Tues., Sept. 30, 2025.

Firefighters were quick to gain control of a structure fire in Bala early Tuesday evening.

Crews from Bala, Glen Orchard, Foots Bay and Torrance responded to Moon River Road around 6 p.m. for reports of flames and heavy smoke.

When they arrived, the structure was fully engulfed in flames, and crews learned two dogs may have been trapped inside the burning structure.

Firefighters battled flames using foam to ensure the fire was extinguished within 20 minutes.

“Both dogs were found safe and returned to their owner,” the department confirmed in a social media post. Officials say the dogs had escaped before crews arrived.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the blaze was not disclosed.
