Simcoe County residents woke up to much cleaner air Sunday morning as much of the wildfire smoke from northwestern Ontario has blown out of the region – at least for now. After being under an orange or yellow warning from Environment Canada for a few days, the national weather centre has removed all warnings with the air quality index currently sitting at a 1 or low risk as of Sunday morning. “Enjoy your usual outdoor activities,” says Environment Canada. A welcome, sunny and blue sky is blanketing the region as we get up to a comfortable high of 21 C. If you’re headed outdoors to soak up the rays, you’ll want sun protection as the UV index is at a 7 or high. You’ll want a light sweater later as the temperature will dip to a low of 12 C for Sunday night making it feel cooler than what we’ve been used to. The cooler conditions won’t last long as the humidity makes a return Monday with many parts of the region expected to feel like 30 C. The national weather centre forecasts low risk air quality indexes for Monday also.
