A woman banned for life from owning horses is on trial for animal abuse. Patricia Moore received a lifetime ban on owning, caring for, or possessing equine animals in 2022 after she was found guilty of four charges under the Animal Protection Act relating to the deaths of seven horses. She was also convicted of permitting horses to be in distress in 2012. Moore was charged with animal cruelty again last year after several horses were seized from her property. She pleaded not guilty to the new charges on July 28, 2025. On the first day of her trial on Tuesday, court heard from several people who responded to ads Moore posted about horses for sale. Almost all the witnesses said Moore was the only person they dealt with during the transactions. One of the witnesses, a veterinarian, said a mare she and her husband looked at was so thin that she called the SPCA after the visit to Moore’s property.
