The Aurora Sports Hall of Fame is the latest organization to cut ties with convicted criminal and prominent businessman Frank Stronach. Stronach currently has a membership in the corporation and is an honoured member, but since a sexual assault conviction, the board will terminate his membership and revoke his honoured member status. The Hall says it initially reached out to Stronach formally requesting that he resign his membership and revoke his member status, but the Hall says it received no response. Since its founding in 2013, the organization says every person inducted into the Hall is an ambassador of positive values, character and integrity, that inspire the community and future generations. “However, recent events have required our organization to confront one of the most difficult decisions in our history,” officials at the Aurora Sports Hall of Fame. “While these circumstances are deeply disappointing, they also provide an opportunity to reaffirm who we are, what we believe, and the standards we are entrusted to uphold on behalf of the residents of Aurora, Ontario.” Stronach was found guilty of two charges last month – sexual assault and the historical offence of indecent assault. The Aurora Recreation Complex removed “Stronach” from its name as well as a park in Newmarket.
