16-year-old faces charges after reports suspect pointed firearm at people: OPP

A 16-year-old from Orangeville faces a slew of weapons-related charges following an April police investigation into a disturbance at a hardware store.

Dufferin OPP officers responded to a report about a male suspect who had allegedly pointed a gun at two people in the hardware store parking lot near Fourth Avenue on April 27.

According to police, the suspect fled the scene but officers located and arrested him shortly after in the area of Sherbourne Street.

“It was later determined that the firearms involved were replica weapons,” OPP stated.

The Orangeville teen, whose identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, faces 10 charges, including armed robbery, carrying a concealed weapon, resisting an officer, and disguise with intent.

Police say the investigation is ongoing and ask anyone with further information to contact Dufferin OPP or Crime Stoppers.
