$10,000 in cannabis stolen during break-ins, 3 suspects sought: OPP

Provincial police are investigating after a group of suspects made off with thousands of dollars worth of cannabis products during a break-in in Angus over the weekend, a theft police say appears to be linked to another incident at a nearby business that same morning.

OPP says the first break-in happened just before 3:30 a.m. on Saturday at a shop on Barrie Street in Essa Township. According to investigators, suspects forced their way through the front door and stole roughly $100 worth of cannabis products before taking off.

About 30 minutes later, officers were called to another break-in, this time at a business on Mill Street in Angus. Police say the suspects again went in through the front entrance, using force to gain entry. In this case, various cannabis products worth an estimated $10,000 were taken, police say.

Investigators believe the same three suspects were involved in both incidents. Surveillance video from the scene captured a red, later-model Honda Civic with its front licence plate removed and the rear windows tinted. Police say three people were inside the vehicle at the time.

All three suspects are described as tall with medium builds, wearing masks and dark clothing. One was seen wearing bright blue track pants. Officers say the group used a yellow crowbar to get in both businesses.

The investigation is ongoing with police appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
