Parade in P.E.I. to commemorate 80th anniversary of Battle of the Atlantic

On Sunday, sailors from His Majesty’s Canadian Ship (HMCS) Queen Charlotte will march in a parade in Murray River, P.E.I., to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Battle of the Atlantic – the longest battle of the Second World War.

The parade begins at the fire hall and proceeds south on Main Street North until it arrives at the cenotaph beside the Millstone Grill, said Lieutenant Tanya Wiltshire in a news release.

After the ceremony, the parade will head south across the bridge where a rigid hull inflatable boat will carry the commanding officer to lay a wreath on the water.

Every year on the first Sunday in May, members of the Navy honour those who served in the battle at memorial parks.
