Youth arrested after allegedly firing pellet gun at people at Halifax transit terminal

Halifax Regional Police has arrested a youth after allegedly firing a pellet gun at two people near a transit terminal on Barrington Street on Thursday.

Police responded to a weapons complaint near the 5200 block of Barrington Street around 8:50 p.m.

They learned a youth allegedly fired a pellet gun and took a victim’s bag.

Another youth allegedly sprayed a sensory irritant, according to a news release from police.

The victims were treated for non-life-threatening injuries at the scene.

Police say they arrested one youth when they began to flee. During the arrest, police seized a pellet gun and recovered the stolen bag.

Officers did not find the suspect who is believed to have sprayed the sensory irritant.

A 14-year-old youth was scheduled to appear in court on Friday to face charges of:

• two counts of assault with a weapon
• two counts of robbery
• discharging a restricted weapon
• pointing a firearm
• possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace
• carrying a concealed weapon
• disguise with intent
• resisting arrest
