Woman fined for allegedly driving more than 60km/h over speed limit in Halifax

Halifax police have fined a 59-year-old woman for allegedly driving more than 60 km/h over the posted speed limit near Bayers Road on Monday.

An officer spotted a vehicle driving at 112 km/h in a 50 km/h inbound on Highway 102 around 9:25 a.m., according to a news release from Halifax Regional Police.

The driver was ticketed for stunting under the Motor Vehicle Act, which comes with a $2,422.50 fine and six points assigned to the driver’s record. Her vehicle was seized and she received a seven-day licence suspension.

She was also ticketed for:

• driving a vehicle without a vehicle liability policy; comes with a $1,272.50 fine
• failing to pass on left of overtaken vehicle; comes with a $295 fine

licence plate not clearly visible; comes with a $237.50 fine
