Two people are facing charges, and police are looking for potential victims and witnesses, after they seized a stolen vehicle and firearms in Pictou County last week. On June 21, Pictou County District RCMP learned about a vehicle that had been stolen from Cape Breton. “The vehicle, a green Volkswagen Beetle, was reported in Pictou County and is believed to have fled from an attempted traffic stop by Westville Police Service,” said the RCMP in a news release Tuesday. An RCMP officer on patrol found the vehicle parked outside a residence in Abercrombie, N.S., around 2:30 a.m. on June 22. Police say officers spotted two firearms in plain view inside the vehicle. While searching the Beetle, police say they found and seized four weapons in total: The officers arrested two people at the scene for property crime and weapons-related offences. They were both released on conditions pending court appearances set for Sept. 21 at Pictou provincial court. Investigators believe the firearms may have been used while committing other crimes.
