Two transit services in northern Nova Scotia will use government funds to buy half a dozen new vehicles. Colchester Transportation Co-operative Ltd. and Cumberland County Transportation Services will receive more than $1.3 million from the province and federal government. The funds will be used to buy one hybrid vehicle and one minibus in Cumberland County, while two vans and two accessible minibuses will be bought in Colchester County. “Our government is helping to build up transit in Cumberland and Colchester so people have more options to get to appointments, to run errands or just to visit friends,” said Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage Minister Dave Ritcey. “By supporting our local community transportation providers, we ensure that people have a safe and accessible way to travel.” The province is providing $271,100 from the Accessible Transportation Assistance Program and the federal government is contributing $1,084,399 from the Rural Transit Solutions Fund.
