Traffic delays expected for upcoming road work on Larry Uteck Boulevard in Bedford, N.S.

Drivers in the Larry Uteck Boulevard area of Bedford, N.S., can expect traffic delays for some upcoming road work.

According to Halifax Regional Municipality, the delays will begin on Tuesday and are expected to be completed by mid-November.

The municipality says the project will see upgrades to the road infrastructure as well as an extension to the multi-use path between the two Broad Street roundabouts. Other upgrades include:

• building a new paved multi-use pathway along the east side of Larry Uteck Boulevard
• installing new curbs and road drainage features
• upgrading stormwater drainage system to move rainwater away from the pathway
• repaving the asphalt
• refreshing road markings and installing or updating signs
• landscaping work including new grass and trees

The municipality says to expect lane reductions and altered centrelines throughout the duration of the project, as well as periods of stop-and-go traffic during the final stages. Drivers are asked to use alternate routes where possible.

The municipality adds local traffic, Halifax Transit and emergency vehicles, as well as people walking and rolling will need to use alternate routes around the project area. Signage will be in place to direct travellers to available detour routes.
