Potholes to be repaired on four Halifax streets next week

The Halifax Regional Municipality is warning drivers of upcoming traffic delays due to temporary winter pothole repairs.

The work will be done on the following streets from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. next Tuesday to Friday:

• Robie Street
• Agricola Street
• Barrington Street
• North Street

There will be rolling sections of stop-and-go traffic in the above areas as the work progresses.

The municipality says repairs on main corridor routes will take place outside of peak traffic times.

The work may also include more streets, if time allows.

“During winter, asphalt plants close and permanent hot-mix asphalt isn’t available. To keep roads safe, crews use temporary cold patch material to fill potholes,” reads a municipal statement.

“This cold patch allows the municipality to stabilize the area until warmer temperatures return, and permanent repairs can be made in spring.”

Motorists are being told they should expect delays and use alternative routes where possible.
