Police in Pictou County are investigating after someone spray painted “hate-motivated graffiti” on Highway 104 last week. The RCMP responded to a complaint that racist graffiti had been painted on the surface of the highway in Broadway, N.S., near mile marker 192, on July 28. “The graffiti was promptly painted over by a construction crew working in the area,” said police in a news release Wednesday. “Investigators believe that the incident was motivated by hate.” Police have not released any details about the graffiti. Investigators learned a man driving a white 2008 Chevrolet Express cargo van had been seen in the area and they are hoping to speak to that person. “The RCMP takes incidents of hate with utmost seriousness and condemns these criminal acts,” said police. “The investigation is ongoing.” Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact the Pictou RCMP detachment at 1-902-485-4333.
