N.S. RCMP seizes unstamped tobacco, arrests Ontario man after traffic stop

An Ontario man is facing charges from the Nova Scotia RCMP for alleged possession of unstamped tobacco.

On May 2 around 12:25 p.m., an officer was patrolling highway 102 in Goffs, N.S., and stopped a southbound Dodge Ram.

The truck had an Ontario licence plate and a U-Haul trailer towed behind it, according to a news release from RCMP.

The officer reportedly questioned the driver about his travel from Ontario, and the answer raised suspicion.

A search of the truck and trailer allegedly led to the seizure of a quantity of unstamped cigarettes and a box containing male enhancement pills that contain sildenafil.

According to RCMP, he’s facing charges of possession of unstamped tobacco and a charge under the Food and Drugs Act for the sildenafil.

“He’s also facing a charge of Possession of Tobacco for the Purpose of Selling under the Criminal Code and three Revenue Act charges related to the tobacco by Audit and Enforcement Officers from the Department of Service Nova Scotia,” reads the news release.

The man has been released and is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth provincial court at a later date.
