N.S. RCMP names new commanding officer who has served in province since 2007

The Nova Scotia RCMP has a new commanding officer who has served in the province since 2007.

Dan Morrow is now the assistant commissioner, taking over for Dennis Daley, who retired last March after serving more than three years in the role.

“I pride myself on learning from the people I work with and the communities I serve, and I’m approaching this role with the same commitment – to listen, learn, and contribute to the strength of our division and the safety of our province,” said Morrow in an RCMP news release.

Morrow started his RCMP career in his home province of Manitoba in 1992, holding positions in traffic services and contract and federal policing. He also spent nearly two decades serving in First Nations communities.

Morrow joined the Nova Scotia RCMP in 2007 and most recently served as criminal operations officer.

“I believe in fostering relationships and partnerships through conversations, sharing perspectives and mutual respect. I’m also very focused on employee wellness and resourcing, recognizing that the people serving across Nova Scotia are our greatest strength,” Morrow said.

“As Commanding Officer, my role is to ensure we, as the provincial police and in working with others, are serving and supporting residents to live safely in the communities they love, amid increasingly complex social and economic environments.”
