Hockey Canada has unveiled the full roster for the 2026 Olympic Winter Games men’s hockey team and Nova Scotia will be well represented. Sidney Crosby and Nathan MacKinnon, both from Cole Harbour, N.S., had already been named to the team’s roster in June. On Wednesday, Hockey Canada announced Brad Marchand of Hammonds Plains, N.S., will join his fellow Nova Scotians when Canada hits the ice at the Milano Cortina Winter Games in February. NHL players will be participating in the Winter Olympics for the first time since 2014. The games will mark MacKinnon’s Olympic debut. The Colorado Avalanche assistant captain has previously represented Canada at the 4 Nations Face-Off, IIHF World Championship, and the IIHF World Junior Championship. This will also be Marchand’s first Olympic appearance. The former Boston Bruins captain and current Florida Panthers forward is coming off a Stanley Cup-winning season. He has previously worn the maple leaf at the 4 Nations Face-Off, IIHF World Championship, the World Cup of Hockey, and the IIHF World Junior Championship. Marchand is the second oldest member of Team Canada, behind Crosby. Crosby, a two-time Olympian, won back-to-back gold medals in 2010 and 2014. One of his most memorable career moments was scoring the Golden Goal in overtime against Team USA on home ice in Vancouver. Crosby and defenceman Drew Doughty are the only players on the team with previous Olympic experience. If they win the gold in Italy they will become the first Canadian men’s hockey players to win three gold medals in their careers. “I am honoured to be selected to Canada’s men’s hockey team together with so many great players and people, and I am excited to again have the opportunity to represent Canada in February and compete for a gold medal,” said Crosby in a news release from Hockey Canada. “We know how much pride comes with wearing the Maple Leaf, and our team understands the passion that comes with Olympic hockey.
