Man facing charges after allegedly fleeing officers in a stolen vehicle: Halifax police

A 27-year-old man is facing charges after police say he fled from officers who believed he was driving a stolen vehicle in Dartmouth , N.S., Sunday.

A Halifax Regional Police officer saw the vehicle travelling on Burnside Drive, near Wright Avenue, around noon.

“Officers did not initiate a traffic stop at that time but followed the vehicle from a distance. Upon seeing police, the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed,” reads a news release from Halifax Regional Police.

“Officers did not pursue and lost sight of the vehicle.”

Officers located the vehicle on Highway 118 around 1:55 p.m. It was broken down with a flat tire and police say the suspect was arrested.

Travis Thompson was scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court Monday to face charges of:

• flight from police
• dangerous operation of a conveyance
• operation while prohibited
• possession of stolen property over $5,000.00
• possession of stolen property under $5,000.00
• breach of probation
