A man awaiting trial for human trafficking charges has been charged with obstruction of justice and failing to comply with bail conditions, say the Nova Scotia Provincial Human Trafficking Unit (HTU). RCMP says HTU began an investigation into sex trafficking related to multiple victims in Nova Scotia in 2023. In April 2026, police arrested 49-year-old Fedul Cain of Porters Lake. He was charged with 13 offences related to human trafficking and money laundering. Police say they learned Cain had not followed the conditions of his release in October 2026, and a new investigation was started. Cain was arrested by police on Monday. He is now charged with: “While enforcement action is an important part of addressing human trafficking, our focus extends beyond laying charges,” says Sgt. Jeff MacFarlane with HTU in the news release Friday. “Every victim and survivor deserves support, safety, and the opportunity to move forward. That support is available throughout the investigation and court process, and often long after it concludes. We remain committed to helping people leave exploitation and supporting survivors as they build the next chapter of their lives.” HTU says Cain will remain in custody and is set to appear in provincial court in Dartmouth on Tuesday.
