The Halifax Urban Folk Festival (HUFF) has announced its lineup for this year’s event, which includes Maritimers Ria Mae and Chris Murphy. HUFF, which is scheduled to take place from Sept. 27 to Oct. 3, celebrates singers, songs and stories. “As hard as it is to believe that we’re now in our 17th iteration, the determination of our board and staff to bring the best - well-known and undiscovered - talent to Halifax has never wavered and this year is no exception,” says Mike Campbell, artistic director of HUFF, in a news release. “We have an exceptional line-up of diverse artists from the West Coast, the Prairies, Ontario, Newfoundland, Australia and, of course, The Maritimes with, I think, something that will appeal to every musical taste. We try to outdo ourselves every year and I think we’ve done it again this time.” The festival will also feature performances by Billy Raffoul, Coyote, Elyse Aeryn, Mick Davis, Jah’Mila and more. Festival events will take place at downtown Halifax venues The Carleton, The Basement (of the Economy Shoe Shop), The Seahorse Tavern and The Marquee Ballroom. Tickets are on sale now.
