Police arrested four people after a gun was fired in Sydney, N.S.

Four people are in custody following shots fired in Sydney, N.S., Thursday morning.

Cape Breton Regional Police say they responded to the parking lot of a McDonald’s on Welton Street around 4:30 a.m. after witnesses reported a person firing a shot at two people who were running towards Welton Street.

Police say they found three people and a firearm inside a vehicle at the scene. They arrested all three.

A second vehicle allegedly left the scene once police arrived. Officers say they tracked the vehicle to the area of James Street, where it went off road, and the driver ran away. Police later found and arrested the driver at a residence on Lingan Road.

Police say there were no injuries as a result of the shots fired.

Both vehicles have been seized by police as they investigate.

“This is being treated as an isolated incident between individuals known to each other,” read the news release Thursday.
