A main road in the Halifax area is down to one lane Friday morning following a house fire. Firefighters responded to reports of a house fire on Prospect Road in Hatchet Lake, N.S., around 4:30 a.m. Halifax Professional Fire Fighters says crews arrived on scene to find heavy fire coming from the back of the home. The fire extended from the basement into the roof. “Crews deployed multiple hand lines to the exterior and made an aggressive interior attack,” reads a post on social media. “Due to rapidly deteriorating conditions and compromise to the roof, crews transitioned to a defensive fire attack.” Crews remained on scene as of 8:30 a.m. People are being asked to avoid the area.
