Children can go to Nova Scotia museums for free this summer

Children and young adults can go to museums for free, or at a reduced fee this summer in Nova Scotia.

Starting Friday, children aged 17 and under can enter 16 Nova Scotia Museum sites and the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia for free.

Young adults aged 18 to 24 will receive a 50 per cent discount.

The province says the program is part of the Canada Strong Pass.

The pass, which was launched by the federal government last year, offers free or reduced youth admission to national galleries and museums and free admission for all ages at national parks and historic sites.

The pass also covers the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21 in Halifax.

“Our museums are full of stories about who we are as Nova Scotians, and we want more young people to experience them,” said Communities Minister Dave Ritcey.

“This program is a simple way to make that easier for families this summer.”

The pass, which is available to all visitors, whether they are Canadian or international visitors, ends on Sept. 7.
