Five people and their dog managed to safely escape from their home after it caught fire early Friday morning. The Calgary Fire Department was called to a home in the 300 block of Chapala Point S.E. around 2:45 a.m. On arrival, crews found smoke and flames coming from the back and side of the home. One person was taken to hospital with burns and some smoke inhalation, but officials said the injuries are not life-threatening. Two bedrooms of the home were damaged in the fire. The cause is under investigation.
