‘Suspicious’ fire outside Fredericton under investigation

The New Brunswick RCMP says it is investigating a suspicious fire outside Fredericton last weekend.

RCMP and fire crews responded to a report of a residential fire on Morehouse Corner Road in Zealand just before 10 p.m. Saturday.

One person was inside the home at the time of the fire. They were able to get out safely.

The New Brunswick Office of the Fire Marshal determined the fire had been intentionally set, according to an RCMP news release.

Police are asking anyone who was in the area at the time of the fire, or has information that could help further the investigation, to call them at 506-357-4300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

The RCMP says the investigation is ongoing.
