The Saint John Police Force is investigating the theft of several bronze memorial plaques from a cemetery on the east side of the city. Police responded to a call about the theft around 9 a.m. on Tuesday. They learned the plaques were stolen from various monuments. Last month, plaques on memorials in Saint John’s King’s Square were ripped from the cement. Monuments to Sir Samuel Leonard Tilley and Olympic speed skate Charles Gorman were also damaged. Anyone with information on the thefts is asked to call police at 506-648-3333, or anonymously contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
