A 50-year-old man is in custody after allegedly assaulting a convenience store worker in Saint John, N.B., early Tuesday morning. Police responded to a report of a man armed with a weapon at a store on Fairville Boulevard around 1 a.m. Officers at the scene found a man allegedly attacking an employee, according to a news release from the Saint John Police Force. “Police immediately engaged with the suspect and took him into custody,” the release reads. “A bystander had put themselves at risk to assist the employee prior to police arriving.” The victim went to hospital and was later released.
