Those who enjoy sitting down for a meal at the Saint John City Market will soon have more options inside the historic venue. The market has released new renderings of a new seating area. A Facebook post from the market says the renderings are “thoughtfully reimagined spaces, while keeping the character you know and love.” There is no timeline for when the construction of the new seats will take place. But changes have already begun inside the market with some middle vendors being removed while other long time staples have shifted locations inside. In addition to the big physical changes, 2026 will also mark the spaces 150th birthday. Market Manager Andrew MacDonald told CTV in late 2025 the plan is to have celebrations throughout the year with the bigger events planned for the second half of 2026 when construction nears completion. The changes are a part of 10-year strategic plan for the market that began in 2023 undertaken by the city. For more New Brunswick news, visit our dedicated provincial page.
