Melody and Matthew Gale like to do things differently, so when they got married, they brought their drum kits to the reception. “We don’t particularly enjoy being a cookie-cutter couple,” Melody said. “We wanted the whole day to be a reflection of us and something memorable and fun. “Why not create a moment where we can show off our skill with everybody we love in the room?” The Woodstock, N.B., couple serenaded their friends and family with a drum duet last month. Both of them have been drummers for most of their lives, with Matthew playing in a heavy metal band and Melody performing with her church. “We wanted a fun, lasting memory,” Melody said. “It was awesome.” One of the couple’s friends recorded the performance and uploaded it to social media, where it has racked up more than 16,000 views.
