The New Brunswick RCMP says an arrest has been made in a fatal hit-and-run that happened earlier this week. On Wednesday, police said they were trying to track down the car involved, which was believed to be a blue 2016 Mitsubishi Lancer. They released a stock photo of the vehicle in hopes someone would be able to identify it. Police said the vehicle would have significant front‑end damage. In an update Thursday, the RCMP said they were no longer looking for the vehicle. On Friday, police confirmed they arrested a person in connection with the case. 19-year-old killed Police responded to the scene of the crash on Route 2 near Swan Creek, N.B., around 9:40 p.m. Tuesday. “The collision is believed to have occurred when the driver of a vehicle had pulled over due to mechanical issues, exited the vehicle, and was struck by another vehicle travelling eastbound on Route 2,” said the RCMP in a news release. Police say the 19-year-old Norton, N.B., man died at the scene. Two passengers in the vehicle that was pulled over were not seriously injured. The RCMP says the other vehicle involved in the incident fled the scene before officers arrived. Police are interested in speaking with anyone who was travelling on Route 2 at the time of the crash.
