A 43-year-old Cornhill, N.B., man is facing weapon charges after allegedly brandishing an axe Tuesday evening. The RCMP responded to a report of the man with an axe outside a Highway 890 residence around 5:15 p.m. A female victim safely fled the scene, according to a news release from police. “When police arrived on scene, the individual refused to cooperate with police and then barricaded himself inside the residence,” the release reads. Police set up a perimeter and obtained a warrant to enter the home before arresting the man. On Wednesday, Jason Tingley appeared in Saint John provincial court to face charges of assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and unsafe storage of a firearm.
