The New Brunswick government has signed a new collective agreement with more than 6,000 school support staff members to increase their hourly wages by $5. The province says it agreed to the deal with the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 2745, which represents roughly 6,400 employees, including school and district administrative assistants, school intervention workers, education assistants and library workers. “More than a year after reaching a tentative agreement, I am so pleased that we could finally come together and sign a new collective agreement,” said Finance and Treasury Board Minister René Legacy in a news release. The new deal includes a wage increase of $5 per hour over four years, retroactive to Feb. 28, 2023.
