Moncton Walmart closed following pallet fire

A Walmart location in Moncton, N.B., is closed following a fire Monday night.

RCMP, fire and ambulance crews responded to the store on 25 Plaza Blvd. around 11 p.m. following reports of pallets on fire outside the store.

Fire from the wooden and plastic pallets damaged some of the building’s exterior and smoke got inside.

Tim Rossiter, acting platoon chief for the Moncton Fire Department, says 24 firefighters responded to the scene as well as a fire investigator and NB Power crews.

No injuries were reported.

The store was evacuated and remains closed Tuesday.

“Your Moncton West Walmart is temporarily closed until further notice. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience and understanding during this time,” reads a social media post from Walmart Canada (West Moncton).

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
