A 23-year-old man has died after he drove the wrong way on a New Brunswick highway and crashed into another vehicle. The RCMP responded to a report of a driver speeding in the wrong direction on Route 7 near Waasis, N.B., around 9:40 p.m. Thursday. While responding to the area, police learned two cars had collided. “The collision is believed to have occurred when the first vehicle was travelling the wrong way at a high rate of speed, and collided head-on with the second vehicle,” said the RCMP. When they arrived on scene, police found the driver of the first vehicle suffering from life-threatening injuries. The New Maryland man was taken to hospital, where he later died. The driver of the second vehicle was treated on scene for what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries and later taken to hospital. “A member of the New Brunswick Coroner’s Office is assisting with the ongoing investigation, and an autopsy will be conducted to determine the man’s exact cause of death,” said the RCMP.
