The mystery of the missing motorhome has ended with a devastating discovery. For more than two years, Angelina Flynn and her family have searched for the motorhome that was stolen from their home in Cornhill, N.B. Police discovered it last weekend in a heavily wooded area off a rural road just 10 minutes from the family’s home. “I’m devastated,” said Flynn. “They ripped it apart and took every part possible that they could steal off of it to make a couple of bucks. They destroyed our dream for a couple hundred dollars in car parts.” The family of six had planned great adventures in their white and blue Gulf Stream RV. They saved up, brought it home from Halifax, Flynn’s four girls cleaned it and her husband worked tirelessly to get it road ready. Flynn had travelled across Canada with her family when she was a child and wanted to do the same thing with her kids. “This was something that we were looking forward to as a family. Being able to budget and all be together and make some really big memories together,” said Flynn. But that all changed on the morning of May 28, 2024, when they discovered the RV had been stolen from their farm while everyone was asleep. The night before, the family were playing cards in the RV and left the keys on the table while in a rush to head inside and get ready for school and work the next day. Flynn said the thief or thieves smashed the ignition apart to get it out of the driveway. “I thought it was a joke. I never thought in a million years somebody would violate us and come into our driveway and take a 33-foot motorhome and just drive it away and then slam it into the woods and rip it apart,” said Flynn. “It’s a lot to process.” Looking for answers Saturday was the first time Flynn saw the vehicle since it had been stolen and seeing her dreams reduced to a stripped apart, destroyed motorhome was almost too much to bear. Just about anything made of metal had been torn off and parts of the motorhome were strewn around the ground in the woods. Every window was smashed out and the tires were gone. To make matters worse, there were obvious signs that someone had been living there. There were sleeping bags, food containers and kitty litter inside. “It’s very hurtful and I hope that no other family has to experience the kind of hurt that we have and the amount of loss that we’ve had over losing this dream we once had,” she said. It’s been almost a full week since they were notified of the discovery, but Flynn said the police haven’t given them many answers. “They have refused to haul it out of the woods. So it’s going to remain here for whoever wants to come and pick off of it,” said Flynn. The RCMP told CTV News in an email Saturday that this is still an ongoing investigation and more information will be provided as it becomes available. Community support Flynn and her husband didn’t have theft insurance for the motorhome yet because they only had it on their property for a few days and it needed work. There are no plans on buying another RV, at least not anytime soon, because of the cost and the one they lost was unique and special to them. Flynn was very thankful to friends, family, the community and anyone who reached out on social media to share their support and provide tips on where the camper might have been. “I have a whole world of people that I’ve never met before that have always been rooting for me,” said Flynn. “The outcome isn’t what any of us ever managed being ten minutes from my house, but I want everybody to know how grateful I am for the continued support for me and my family over the last two and a half years.” The family assumes their dream motorhome will be left to rot away in the woods for years to come, just a short drive from where they live.
