Advance voting for N.B. local elections to take place Saturday, Monday

New Brunswickers who want to vote in advance of the upcoming local elections can do so starting this weekend.

Local government, rural district advisory committee, and district education council elections take place on May 11.

The first day of advance voting is this Saturday. The second day is scheduled for Monday.

Polls are open both days from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

“Any eligible voter who wishes to cast their vote early to avoid potential lineups on election day can do so at these advance polls,” said Kim Poffenroth, chief electoral officer, in a provincial release.

“To make the process run even smoother, we encourage electors to bring their voter information cards with them when they go to the polls.”

Residents can also vote with a special ballot, which are available at the 18 returning offices around the province.

“These voting options provide greater flexibility to individuals to choose the opportunity to vote that is most convenient for them,” added Poffenroth.

Advance and regular polling station locations are on voter information cards, the Elections New Brunswick website or by calling 1-888-858-VOTE (8683).

Nearly 325,000 voter information cards are being mailed out this week.
