A 35-year-old man is facing charges after the New Brunswick RCMP arrested him in a stolen SUV in Moncton on Tuesday. Police say officers located the stolen SUV around 11:50 a.m. after it had allegedly fled from them multiple times that day. It later parked on Gordon Street in Moncton around 2:30 p.m., according to an RCMP news release. “The driver exited the vehicle and entered a fenced area, at which point police blocked the driver side door of the SUV,” the release reads. “The driver noticed police and turned back to enter the car through the passenger door. “An altercation ensued between the driver and police during which an edged weapon was seized.” Police say the driver started the car and backed it into an unmarked police vehicle, causing minor cosmetic damage. The driver then hit a second unmarked police vehicle, rendering the SUV immobile. Police arrested the driver, who was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for failing to comply with conditions of his statutory release. Jonathan Legere, from Haute-Aboujagane, N.B. appeared in court and was charged with: Legere was remanded into custody and is scheduled to return to court at a later date.
