P.E.I. RCMP seizes cocaine, searches residence after Midgell traffic stop

Kings District RCMP says they have arrested a man and a woman, and seized cocaine after a traffic stop in Midgell, P.E.I.

Police say officers, with the assistance of the Provincial Joint Enforcement Team (JET), conducted a targeted traffic stop on Friday where they arrested a 54-year-old man for possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. A 40-year-old woman was also arrested for breaching court-ordered conditions and on an outstanding warrant issued in Queens County.

During the stop, police say they seized approximately one ounce of cocaine.

“A search warrant was later executed at a residence in Souris, P.E.I., where officers located additional drug paraphernalia and a handgun-style pellet gun,” said a news release from the RCMP.

The RCMP Police Dog Services also assisted in the investigation.

Both individuals were remanded into custody and are scheduled to appear in court Monday.

Police are asking anyone with information about drug-related activity in their community to contact their local police.
