Traffic checkpoint results in 9 impaired driving related offences: Halifax police

Halifax Regional Police said a traffic checkpoint at the Armdale Roundabout in Halifax resulted in nine impaired driving related offences between 2 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. Sunday.

Police said two drivers were charged with impaired operation of a conveyance. An arrest occurs when a driver’s blood alcohol concentration is over 80 mg%.

Seven drivers were issued seven-day licence suspensions for having a blood alcohol concentration between 50 mg% and 79 mg%.

“In total, 10 vehicles were seized, including the nine above and one for multiple motor vehicle infractions,” said a release from police.

A summary offence ticket was issued to another driver who was not impaired but had an open alcohol container in the vehicle, police said.

Police are asking anyone who has information on an impaired driver to call 911.
