Shoplifting suspect arrested after traffic stop: N.S. RCMP

A man wanted in connection with two shoplifting investigations in Dartmouth, N.S., has been arrested.

The RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment said an officer ran the licence plate of a Dodge Ram travelling in the 0–100 block of Forest Hills Parkway around 8:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Police say the check revealed the vehicle’s registered owner was a suspended driver.

The officer conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver as a 38‑year‑old woman from Grand Lake. She was issued summary offence tickets for two Motor Vehicle Act violations.

“A male passenger was also identified, and police learned he was wanted for arrest in relation to two separate theft investigations being conducted by Halifax Regional Police,” reads a news release from RCMP.

The passenger, a 37‑year‑old man from Lake Loon, was arrested and transported to the Halifax Regional Police Prisoner Care Facility.

He was released with a scheduled appearance in Dartmouth provincial court.
