Two young women were injured when shots were fired in a Montreal club at around 3 a.m. on Saturday morning. Emergency services were deployed to the licensed premises on Saint-Laurent Boulevard, near Milton Street, in the Plateau-Mont-Royal borough. “Upon arriving at the scene, police officers quickly located two young women, in their early 20s, who were reported to have sustained gunshot wounds to the lower body. They were taken to hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening,” said Montreal police (SPVM) spokesperson Constable Raphaël Bergeron. The motive for the crime was not immediately known. Police said the description of the suspect, who fled before the police arrived, is very sketchy at this stage. He has been described as a very tall man wearing dark clothing. “Investigators will review surveillance footage and interview various witnesses to the events,” said Bergeron. The SPVM’s investigation is ongoing. This report by The Canadian Press was first published in French on May 9, 2026.
