Frost advisories issued for parts of the Maritimes for Thanksgiving

Some Maritimers will wake up to frosty conditions Monday morning.

Environment Canada has issued frost advisories in parts of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.

New Brunswick

The advisory in New Brunswick is for central and northeastern areas.

Environment Canada said temperatures may reach as low as -4 degrees in low-lying areas. Frost is expected to form Sunday night as mainly clear skies and light winds coincide with cool temperatures.

“Frost advisories are issued when temperatures are expected to reach the freezing mark during the growing season, leading to potential damage and destruction to plants and crops,” said Environment Canada.

Nova Scotia

The advisory in Nova Scotia applies to the more eastern areas of the province.

Antigonish and Pictou counties are under the advisory, as are the western parts of Cape Breton. The frost is expected to form Sunday night and into the early hours Monday morning.

The weather agency said minimum temperatures will range from -1 to 2 degrees.
