Frost advisories issued for parts of the Maritimes

Some Maritimers will wake up to frosty conditions Tuesday morning.

Environment Canada has issued frost advisories for parts of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.

New Brunswick

The advisory in New Brunswick is for central and eastern areas.

Environment Canada said temperatures may reach as low as -4 degrees in low-lying areas. Frost is expected to form Monday night as mainly clear skies and light winds coincide with cool temperatures.

“Frost advisories are issued when temperatures are expected to reach the freezing mark during the growing season, leading to potential damage and destruction to plants and crops,” said Environment Canada.

Nova Scotia

The advisory in Nova Scotia applies to Cape Breton, central, eastern, and northern mainland areas.

Antigonish, Colchester, Cumberland, Guysborough, Halifax, Hants, and Pictou counties are under the advisory, as are all parts of Cape Breton. The frost is expected to form Monday night and into the early hours Tuesday morning.

The weather agency said minimum temperatures will range from -2 to 2 degrees.

Prince Edward Island

The advisory on Prince Edward Island applies to Kings County, Prince County, and Queens County.

The weather agency said minimum temperatures will range from zero in low lying areas to 3 degrees along parts of the coast.
