Frost advisories issued for majority of the Maritimes

CTV Atlantic meteorologist Kalin Mitchell shares rain reports for the Maritimes plus details on a chilly October night ahead that has a risk of frost.

The warm weather seems to have left the Maritimes, with frosty conditions expected across the region early Friday morning.

Frost advisories are currently in place for Halifax and western mainland Nova Scotia and all but the northwestern region of New Brunswick.

Environment Canada says temperatures may reach as low as -5 degrees in low-lying inland areas and 0 along parts of the New Brunswick coast.

In Nova Scotia, minimum temperatures of 0 are expected in low-lying inland areas and 4 degrees along parts of the coast.

“Widespread frost is expected to form as clear skies and light winds coincide with very cool temperatures,” the advisory reads.

“Cover up plants, especially those in frost-prone areas.”

There are currently no frost advisories in place for Prince Edward Island.
