Sending greetings from what she calls an “ordinary American family,” a Republican assemblywoman from Nevada has shared a Christmas card featuring her family members – including a 5-year-old boy -- carrying guns.

Michele Fiore posted the card to Facebook on Nov. 30 with the caption, “It's up to Americans to protect America. We're just your ordinary American family.”

The post includes a small legend, labelling each family member and the weapon they wield, from a lightweight Extar EXP556 pistol to a Glock 40.

The post has since been circulated on social media, with reactions ranging from disgust and fury, to staunch support.

News of Fiore’s Christmas card comes in the aftershock of a deadly mass shooting in San Bernardino, California, that killed 14 people at an office Christmas party.

Fiore, who is known for her outspoken stance on firearms, released a statement on her personal website after the San Bernardino shooting.

“My strong message to you is its [sic] time Americans begin protecting America. Get armed, get trained get your head out if [sic] the sand and be prepared,” she wrote.
