The English village of Audlem has banded together to record a version of Amazing Grace, hoping to raise money for a local mother who is battling terminal cancer.

About 1,100 residents of the village, located about an hour’s drive south of Manchester, sang the famous hymn.

It’s part of the Mend Our Mum campaign for Berni Cliffe, who has Stage 4 gallbladder cancer. Doctors have told her she has months to live.

Cliffe is undergoing treatment in Britain under the country’s National Health Service, but her family wants to send her to the United States for treatment that could potentially extend her life.

A video of the village's performance was released on YouTube. It shows groups of residents singing Amazing Grace before panning out and revealing the entire village.

Cliffe has been overwhelmed by her village’s support.

“I try hard not to think too much that it’s about me,” she said. “I know that sounds silly but I don’t think I’d be able to come to and share it all if I realized it was all done for me.”
